2012 Goals

I remembered I made some goals before the New Year so I thought I'll post them up.

POKER
1. grind online poker more and in turn improve my game; be $10,000 in profit by December 2012 (no where near that goal at the moment; but I reckon with some hard keen grinding over the summer I can make up for lost time and be well on my way)

2. play more live; play a tourney/cash session at the local casino once a fortnight (havnt been keeping to this at all; have been busy with other stuff)

3. attend 6 live events; 1 being in another country; attend another UKIPT/Genting (played 1 live event as of yet; APAT Brighton; trying to sat into the London Leg of Genting at the Fox Club)

4. four figure bankroll (GBP) by start of summer - June 2012 (this will be hard to achieve as I had to withdraw my bankroll earlier in the month to fuel a 8 day miniholiday in Portsmouth...lol; but if i manage to lock up £500 in my Genting account i'll be pleased)

5. while in Poland for the EURO 2012 football; try balance grinding online and going out binging (probs be a seperate goal once summer comes round) (this will defo need a seperate goal for when i jet off to Gdansk! super excited!)

Fresh Start

It has been a while since I have blogged; and as it is a New Year with new goals I would like to blog about my journey in Poker. I will try my best to post something at least once a week; be it graphs from sessions, interesting hands played or personal stuff discussed.

2011 Review

2011 for poker was a mixed year

LIVE:

I had great success; I managed to win my first live tournament for £4,032 which is by far the biggest score I have achieved so far.

Played my first UKIPT in Brighton; didn’t go well was pretty card dead the whole day and busted later in the evening of day 1B.

ONLINE:

obviously Black Friday occurred and to make matters worse FullTilt got shut down by the DOJ; loads of players money were frozen online including mine. It happened half way through miniFTOPS in which I had a big schedule and sold 35% of my action. I think I have around $700-900 stuck on there…hopefully the matter will be resolved sooner rather than later.

APAT Trip Report: I

Friday 29th May

I woke up at around 11 from a text message from James Starkey saying that he was going to be at Plymouth Train Station in an hour, I snoozed for a bit then got up. I was feeling still pretty drunk from the night before (it was my friend Steve’s birthday and it was a big one – we dressed up as Arabs).

Fast forward a few hours, I pick up James and we get some lunch at McDonalds and decide to go to the Casino for a few roulette spins and blackjack, the time is 1pm and the Casino is empty and we look like some degenerate gamblers coming in for their daily fix. There are no Casinos in Guernsey, so maybe this is why James went mad on blackjack and roulette table. I lost £10 he ended up being £70ish up.

After getting dinner at the local pub we went back to the Casino for a £10+4 donkament which started with 60bbs. The players were terrible however I still failed to cash unlike James whose run good continued. He managed to min cash for £30 and as we swapped 50% I made myself a tidy profit of £1, super. Got back at around 1am and we went to bed looking forward to the next day ahead.

Switching boats...

Greetings all!

Happy Easter first of all (for those who actually celebrate it...the proper way not by just eating chocolate eggs...), I took a bit of a break from Poker as I had a lot of coursework to do which I foolishly left it to the last minute yet again!

In the last few weeks I have been playing a lot of Live Cash mainly 1/1 at The Vic in London, the games I found were pretty soft and beatable and most of all I really enjoyed playing live poker there.

After a long thought I therefore came to the conclusion I am going to 'switch boats' and instead from grinding SnGs I am going to try and make a successful transition to 6max ring games.

My plan is to start grinding 10nl of at least 30,000 hands a month, my aim is to try and move up quickly and be playing 25nl comfortable by September 2011 while taking shots at 50nl. I believe these targets may be quite hard to achieve as I never have played these games on a grinders level. I plan on playing live poker once a week as well as well as playing online mtts once a fortnight.

My last exam is on the 13th so from the 15th I will begin the grind.

See you then!
